Job description

A fabulous opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Assistant to join this well established and ambitious business placed in Runcorn.

Your main responsibility will be to assist the purchasing department with day to day operations including the interaction with suppliers to maintain pricing and delivery schedules and internal personnel as a liaison between supply orders and customer orders.

You will:

  • Raise purchase orders with the aid of MRP and track progress to delivery status
  • Schedule deliveries with suppliers and hauliers and share information with logistics
  • Expedite / delay / cancel outstanding purchase orders
  • Investigate and resolve invoice and delivery note queries
  • Liaise with suppliers and warehouse over incorrect or damaged deliveries
  • Inform sales, customer service and manufacturing of any delays that may alter production start dates in a timely manner
  • To chase approvals and deal with queries in a timely manner
  • Manage non stock and consumable inventories, including inventory adjustments
  • Meet and liaise with suppliers to discuss present and future requirements
  • Liaise with the Procurement Manager with regards to new suppliers and materials and initiate the basic questionnaires
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive portfolio of supplies and materials
  • Proactively engage in a regular meeting with NPD / Sales regarding coordination of supply
  • Material demand planning
  • Vendor / spend analysis

This role offers a basic salary of £24,000 - £26,000 per annum plus excellent benefits including:

To be suitable for this role you will have:

  • Experience of working as a Purchasing / Supply Chain Assistant in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to build strong working relationships both internally with key departments and externally with suppliers
  • Ability to effectively interpret and translate information to other employees in a professional and respectful manner
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and resolve discrepancies in a reasonable amount of time
  • Ability to prioritise work, meet tight deadlines and communicate progress of tasks undertaken
  • Proactive and positive attitude to work is needed in this fast faced environment with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to use own initiative and be motivated and driven
